Do either one of them work? It seems that neither should based off the targeting info. DC is kind of finicky. Since they are 'select by count' with a range of 0, it seems logical to you and I that they should only be used on the caster, but DC would rather you used a target of 'Self'.
Anyways, in my limited testing - after changing target to self and allowing it to be memorized by PCs, I can safely say that neither one of them work correctly.
I'll play around a little bit more tonight, but I've got to go to work soon and there are some other AD&D things I'm working on. You can probably guess what by my posts today.
