I'm not a horror film fan, so I rarely watch scary movies. But this one has kindled my curiousity. For one thing, one of my college buddies, who loves horror films, said this movie really gave him the creeps. It's gotta be a pretty powerful movie to have that kind of effect on him. The movie was on TV this weekend and I managed to see bits and pieces of it (between other shows I watch and the ballgame). I also browsed YouTube and found some scenes from the movie there as well. Still, I have several questions about the movie that I hope others here can and will answer.

First, what happened with the horse on the ferry? This was one scene I couldn't find on YouTube and managed to miss each time I switched over to the movie on TV.
Second, why was Samara's "room" in the barn and what was she doing in the mental hospital? (I assume it was a mental institute based on her video).
Third, why did Samara's mom kill her and was that her mom who was trying to drown Samara as an infant? Or was that her grandmother trying to drown her mom?
Finally, how did Rachel break the curse?
