I think the reason for the heavy direction towards the female population is simply because there's more of them. Male breast cancer patients are a minority, and those who are affected probably have too much pride to be publicized. Because as most people will prove to you, there is a false connection made between breast cancer and women. So to these few males who have it, coming to the public would include being ridiculed for having "a woman's disease". Although I'm not sure what exactly this would jeopardize, it is safe to say that people naturally want to avoid this. Whereas , a female having BC isn't odd to the public, because they've been fed that story so many times through media.
The pink colour definitely has a feminine touch to it, I've got to admit you're onto something there . Just like how PC funds have the blue colour (a more manly colour I assume).
And lastly its not that women dying from this are more important than the men who die from it. But we hear about the women more, than we do of men. Simply because they have an easier time coming out, thanks to the societal padding that they are given.
