Back when you could have an opinion and say it, not anymore.
You can't say anything without offending someone and some moderator jumping down with pm warnings.
Should be an anything goes forum, as long as it has a point. And if people get offended, tough.
Bring back the old posters, all the cool peeps got fed up and left.

I disagree with what you said. I find that the forums are moderated far less these days than they used to be, and the moderators' forum where we rally is always sitting idle. There are many things affecting this, and none of it has to do with us becoming more burdening to the membership of IW.
I never remember a time when we could just get by with offending remarks not being chastised, and I'd argue that the general membership has more freedoms today on IW than ever before, aside from the religious debates which always is a bad idea for proven reasons.
I think that when you were reprimended a time or two, you took it so personally that you decided to become the current "trouble-maker" because it is a role you can play. Behavioral psychology teaches us that attention given to your act is a stimulus which keeps you motivated in your desire to play the part. We've always had one or two guys play that part. How long will you play before somebody takes your place? Maybe you can win at being the longest holder of the title!
IW will never have an "anything goes" forum but there are plenty of forums on the internet which allow it, so why try to change us for the worse when those things already exist and are running happily elsewhere?
I also think that there is more cause to people leaving IW than getting "fed up". I think that some people merely get caught up in a new routine like I find myself in. I have to make conscious effort to even log on these days, not because I have nothing to say...because I love the RP forum and could make several posts to the movies forum, book forum, and TV show forum everyday...but my problem is that I no longer am in school which gave me so much extra time to kill, and what time I do have these days are spent watching movies I rent with Netflix or actually going to bed earlier than 2am every morning like I used to. It's not that IW is less fun for me, I just have a harder time getting it into the schedule. I assume that many IW'ers go through the same thing. That's why the RP forum is dead now. Nobody has time to play. It's absurd to think that we're not playing because it's over-moderated and we're not allowed to do what we want.
Also, I am not playing NWN like I used to, and that was a big bonus for coming here. If we do not have a forum that features the games that people are playing right now, then we have less logins. Less logins means less opportunities to attract people to other forums like GenCon.
Think about it.
