Thee are lots of creatures that are AD&D originals that appear elsewhere, most notably beholders.
They're everywhere from Doom to Guild Wars.
There are enough common creatures, i.e. from mythological/historical origins that one could do a pretty nice sized book - there are 138 monsters in the book in question - with what's available. Then, there would be a second book with original monsters.
