Yup... There were a few books (who also looked like regular books) in BG1 with some quest value, but I don't think that's the case in BG2. In fact, any important quest-related books (or special books containing hints which may or may not be of use) will look different from the "ordinary" books; not always entirely logical or realistic, but very handy from a game-related perspective - at least you won't overlook them all that easily.
