Off-topic but here's a spoiler of how to beat those beholders with a little more ease:

Save the Unseeing Eye quest until after you finish getting through the Underdark. Then take the Cloak of Mirroring that you
should have gotten in Sanhuagin City, and send in your tank with that equipped and the spells will just reflect back to the Beholders and they'll kill themselves
. Quite handy really...
