And what you're failing to see is that Russia and Turkey aren't "lesser quality" teams by the fact that they qualified...
"lesser quality" teams who managed to get into top 2 of qualifying group = good matches.
"lesser quality" teams who can't manage even that = bad matches.
And on a side notice, Korea's matches against Portugal, Italy, Spain were the shittiest world cup matches in the longer history of shitty world cup matches.
Cameroon (or another example Ivory Coast) on the other hand did play extremely well.
Note that both Cameroon and Ivory Coast finished TOP in their WC qualifications group. Had we brough in teams who finished 3rd or 4th we they would've done terribly.
And Korea didn't have to qualify...
