At first I thought this was going in the direction of saying that eye color is perceived differently depending on what one was wearing that day or the atmospheric conditions...but I am glad to see that I guessed wrong.

To answer the question, my mom said I had blue eyes until I was three years old, when they turned green. My mom has blue eyes and my dad has brown eyes. My grandmother and grandfather on my dad's side have brown eyes, as well as many others on that side of my family. My mom's side has blues and browns, but my grandfather on that side has green eyes.

What I find intriguing is how dark blue both my girls' eyes were as newborns, and now they have lightened up. I hear that this is common for babies to all have that dark shade of blue as newborns that changes as toddlers to whatever it was meant to be.
