I found Torgal difficult as well, it took me several tries to beat him. What I found works is luring him into the room just outside the big room where he is, right after setting traps at the door. Then, summon a bunch of creatures (I'm assuming that you probably have Jaheira and maybe Aerie?) and have them attack Torgal while your other characters finish off his "cronies". Then finish him off.
