I think multi-player is great, I just can't stand MMOs.
A DM running 6 to 8 folks through their DC design would be awesome.
As for the edition wars
I don't hate 3e. I think it's a fairly straight-forward system that is not without merit. If I'd grown up playing it, I'd be no worse for it. But, (ther is always a but), what I don't like is that WotC/Hasbro took an already existing game which had done pretty well but was starting to look tapped out, and crammed this new ruleset onto it and said "if you want to play it now, you've got to buy everything over again". They should have just made a new game and retired AD&D. Heck, they could have still called it Dungeons & Dragons, just thrown an 'Ultimate' at the beginning and come out with new product lines. Forgotten Realms should have remained 2e and they could have just created a new world setting, such as "Lost Domains" and moved on from there.
