Yes. The way it is now is that if a player is good at only one game, he can get all top ten places, and earn a high rank in leaderboard. With the other system he gets just one, so in order to get a good leaderboard place he has to get good scores in all games, not just one he's good at.
Also, a list of top 10 scores, all for the same player disocurages others to play this game. There is no point in playing if you can't make it into top ten anyway, even if you're second best. Basically we have one winner and everyone else is put in the same basket (yes I know scores get recorded beyond top 10, but no one really ever looks at those).
