Happy new year y'all!!!
2006 saw me finish the last of the subjects required for my degree, so that was a relief. No more lectures! No more exams!! Who knew it was going to take me EIGHT YEARS before I had my last lecture .
I also made a start at actually writing my phd thesis. It isn't exactly fun, but it is very satisfying and a relief to have my thesis be an actual tangible thing rather than just the sort of 'concept' it has been these past three years. You know that at some point you will have to write it but it seems so big and unwieldy that it is hard to think about how it will ever be finished. So to get two full chapters and three quarters of another written is a very good feeling. And I did the two introductory chapters in about a month, so it is good to know that not only are they written, they were not super difficult to write. Plus I will be submitting a journal article in the very near future. I'm kind of annoyed that I didn't get around to submitting it during last year - mostly laziness - but nevermind.
Otherwise I had a pretty good year. I started playing sport again, something I haven't done since high school, and even then I was very half-hearted about it. Not really since about year 8 have I played sport enthusiastically. So I played netball, which was really fun, and also great socially. And tennis a couple of times, which was good as well. Underarm serving though lol. I bookended the year with two long weekend holidays with friends, which were great.
So a good year all in all! Hope all of you had great ones, and good wishes for 2007!
