Absolutely, rape is about power, control, and domination, and not about sex. Ever see
Boys Don't Cry? They didn't rape Brandon Teena because they lusted after him. They wanted to put him back in his place. It normally happens in the context of heterosexuality, so this goes ignored.
Personally, I like what Sweden did. They made it legal to sell sex, but made it illegal to buy sex. That way, prostitutes could report abusive johns and pimps without fear of being arrested, and turned the issue from a "Women are breaking the law" issue to a "Men are exploiting women" issue.
However, I wouldn't really mind seeing it legalized if it were heavily regulated.
