The AMD processors do get warmer than the Intel processors, but they are designed to be like that. That comparison is like suggesting a tractor isn't as useful as a Ferrari because it can't travel as fast.
As for noise, there are plenty of silent fans and cooling solutions available for both AMD and Intel processors, so it's a bit of a moot point (you could use the money you save by buying an AMD processor to buy a really effective 'silent' fan and still have change left over
