A Rod of resurection can be found in Mekraths abode in the temple sewers. And as it is the Rod is much better that it's spell counterparts. As for wich class is better, it depends on how you play them: I've seen players who try a wizard and have no luck, but with a cleric they waltz through the game and vice versa.
As for pure destructive force, none can match the output of a sorcerer, timestops and ADHW in chapter two are just lethal.
Clerics and mages a both very powerful classes IF you play them correctly, they both also have the potential to be horible if played incorectly. To each his own on the matter of wich one is better.
