Second Robert Jordan's 'Wheel of Time'.
If I'm in mood for a good laugh, I read Terry Pratchett or Douglas Adams ('Don't panic'!).
I am a fan of Philip José Farmer, who wasn't mentioned here before, I think (perhaps more SciFi). I don't know whats the name in english, perhaps "The riverworld" or something like that (it's about a world that consists of a big river

) Or his ?"The world of thousand levels/floors"? .
I don't remember the author but I liked the book 'Corum' a lot (Moorcook I think).
And last but not least Marion Zimmer Bradley (yeayea just giggle, I know she always writes about women but 'The Mists of Avalon' is a good book).
