I'd prefer to be cremated and have my ashes returned to earth or sea, so long as the ashes would nourish something rather than polluting.
Dagorian, I'm equally incredulous why you'd prefer to be pickled, placed in a steel gauge casket which is then lowered into a concrete vault. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, this is NOT. Not only does your body not return to the earth or any form of usefulness, your corpse now is taking up landspace. Many cities and towns have more square footage dedicated to "cities of the dead" than adequate space for the living. What's the point? That which makes you you is no longer there. And I certainly grant God enough omnipotence to be able to put me back together again from ashes should a day of resurrection ever come. Well, that's my wee humble opinion, for what it's worth.
