Well... if a poll is too inane, or written for single word answers, it's neither interesting to read nor reply to. A couple of months or so ago, the topics were MUCH more... intellectual, perhaps, and they spurred on a LOT of discussion.
It depends on what you want out of a poll -- quickie replies, or serious debate. I miss the debates, but I haven't been able to think up a good topic lately either.
