Glad you find me easy to talk to! I DO try not to lose my rag with people, though I do get cross sometimes.
I understand your viewpoint on Jephtha's daughter. It is easy to read it that way, and I questioned it myself when I first read it. You could be right, too - but for the fact that human sacrifice was forbidden to the Jews by their god, who roundly condemned 'the nations' for such practices. Jephtha would have been put to death for sacrificing his daughter as a burnt offering to god. Also, Jephtha was one of those commended at Hebrews 11:32, which he would not have been had he broken god's law in such a gross way.
