Speaking of which, Mr. Harris, may I bring to your attention that the word is irritate, not irrate, and peeve when made plural does not include an apostrophe, as it is not possessive?
Thanks ever so much for introducing this topic.
I do gently tease my friends about their mistakes (or mitsakes, as Davros puts it... right, Davros?), so this is not meant to start a flame war, but you did ask. And while spelling and grammar may not seem like a big deal, the overall quality of written English by adults in the U.S.A. has become rather poor. If your nurse or doctor cannot spell the word calendar correctly (or the plural), would you expect them to have a better knowledge of math and be able to get your medications dosed out correctly? If the pilot of the plane you are riding in cannot write a grammatical sentence (which he should have mastered in grade school), do you really trust him with the complicated task of flying?

Don't you think the grammar thing is a tad harsh AliCat? I mean I spell well, but everyone makes mistakes sometimes. If you're positive you know how to spell a word do you go spell check it to be sure? (Okay I admit I have but that's not the point.) Most people don't. Cut us a little slack would you?
