I have walked through BG,SoA and ToB for quite some times testing a lot of possibilities for my PC and I have become to love Dual-Classing.
Dual fighter/mage (lvl8/lvl...) with Bladesinger Chain and Grand Mastery with Staff of Rynn or a dual fighter/thief with grand mastery in Celestial Fury. Hello Backstab!
Yet never have I messed with the NPCs classing and always left them to be what they had always been/
Now there is a certain thief shortage in SoA as most of you will agree with me
Jan is only ,Nalia is useless as she dualled to Mage, Imoen has some basic abilities but is a mage now too, Jan is Multiclass which makes him slow in advancing at thievery (especially backstab) and
!!spoiler!!

Yoshimo can't be taken all the way as he betrays you in Spellhold.

So just recently I thought: why not dual-class one of the NPCs to Thief.
Yet this is not as simple as I had thought.

1.) Dual Classing is "humans only" so that takes Aerie, Jaheira, Jan, Korgan, Mazzy and Viconia off the list. Haer'Daelis as a Tiefling (which is a special kind of human) also can't dual.
2.) Anomen, Imoen and Nalia are already dualclass chars.
3.) Cernd, Edwin, Keldorn and Minsc have too low Dexterity (17 required) to dual class to thief.

So that leaves me with Valygar who seems to meet all requirements:
Human
Dex 18
NOT Lawful (but Neutral)

The only thing I don't know: Can Rangers (Stalkers) be dualed to Thieves? To me it would make sense, as they already have Hide in Shadows and Backstabbing abilities.
I haven't installed SoA at the moment so I can't try it out, but I hope one of you guys knows the answer.
