Alabama judge tosses Thompson

Florida lawyer's request to leave case denied; judge opts to revoke temporary license to practice law in the state instead.

Earlier this month, outspoken Florida attorney Jack Thompson withdrew from a high-profile Alabama civil suit against several game makers and retailers. According to Game Politics, the judge today rejected Thompson's withdrawal, and instead kicked him off the case and revoked his temporary license to practice law in Alabama, to boot.
So an American citizen concerned about the rise in youth violence has his means of making a living hampered while makers of violent video games are given the green light to create games promoting excessive violence against authority figures.

*sigh* how sad.
The fact remains that Freedom of Speech is an essential part of America. As such, attempts to curb are not in the best interest. /preach
Freedom of Speech is not unlimited, Sir D.. You cannot yell "FIRE" in a crowded theater because your actions endanger a large group of people.

By the same token, creating games that exalt stealing cars, shooting at police and attacking anybody else that gets in your way sets a trend for glamorizing anti-social behavior. And that trend IS becoming more prevalant in our society. Kids today do NOT have any respect for elders and very little respect for authority.

Are video games, movies and music to blame? Not completely. But neither are they completely blameless as the creators like to claim.
By that logic, Payne's "Common Sense" is in the same boat as GTA, and is even worse, due its attempts to exacerbate the situation in the colonies at the time.
