I've found that the indicator lights on modems are unrealiable at best.

If you are connecting wirelessly the first place I'd check is compatibility between the modem and your wireless adapter.

I'd also suggest checking any and all hard wired (ethernet) cables. A crossover cable in the wrong place can really make life miserable. Checking all network cards would be a good idea as well.

You might also want to check to see if your ISP supports NAT routers. Probably a long shot, but if nothing else is working?
