You say it started that after it became unbalanced? There is a possiblility that something came loose, but, if it's electrical the only way your going to be able to test it is to take the top cover off, trace out the wiring from the switch up top to where ever it goes in the machine. A wire could have broken. You can use an ohm meter, at the top switch to test resistance, before complete disassembly. But if the actual unit that is powered by the switch is bad, it may read 0 anyway. If, using the ohm meter, you get no resistance, either the unit the wire runs to is shorted, or a wire is broken.
