Actually, Dundee, the +1 or better Blunt weapon isn't necessary: Get rid of the Clay Golem by luring it into the Reflecting Pool room with a Valygar or a Thief. If a newbie is dumb enough to walk right into an obviously alien Sphere without a Thief, that's their own damn fault, and Valygar does come as something of a "Package deal." (And if he's alive, he can kill the Clay boy himself.)
On a similar note, it might just be possible to move the Iron/Adamantine Golems out of the way by using Boots of Speed and some Invisibility Potions. Nearly suicidal, yes, but possible.
But no, we haven't forgotten that we're dealing with a low-level Solo Sorcerer here.
Tactics to get a Demon Heart without getting killed:
- Summon as many Elementals as you can, and send them at a Demon. (One at a time at first, to try to get him to use up his Paralytic Gazes.) I don't suggest Fire Elementals, as the critters here are mostly immune to Fire. I would go with Air Elementals--I know for a fact that a single Aerial Servant can simply clean the Master of Thralls' clock.
- Stand just out of a Demon's sight range (use Wizard Eye for this). Cast as many Skull Traps as possible, all on the same spot. Buff up with Stoneskin, Mirror Image, and Fireshield: Blue. Step into his sight range, and he'll hit you with a Paralytic Gaze, which you will probably fail. When he rushes forward to finish you off, he'll get nailed by the Skull Traps--and if he survives, the Fireshield might finish him off. ("Borrow" Kelsey's Cloak for the Fireshield: Green, if applicable.)
- Stinking Cloud + Web. I've never seen an Unconscious Demon, but hey, it might just be possible.
Tactics for surviving the Power Core:
- Invisibility is your friend. Cast it or down a Potion before you even go *in* there. Don't even bother with the container--it's not like you need the money.
