Firefox's design actually doesn't save any more memory on tabs than windows - a new Firefox window doesn't spawn a new instance of it either.

Rather than having to move the mouse to the taskbar and click to change page, just hit '1' or '2' in Opera to cycle forward or back or see them all displayed at the top of the screen. I presume Firefox has similar behaviour.

Ctrl - Tab to move right through them, Ctrl - Shift - Tab to move left, Alt + [1 - 9] to go to that tab. Some extensions also change the Ctrl - Tab behavior to go through tabs in the order you've looked at them, rather than the order they appear on screen (eg, Focus Last Select Tab).
