Landlord thrown in jail after trying to collect rent at swordpoint
Lakeland, Florida - An angry Lakeland landlord swung a sword at two tenants and held them against their will by screwing a piece of plywood over their bedroom door, the sheriff's office reported Friday night.
The tenants phoned for help, and responding deputies got the pair out of the home via a bedroom window.
Deputies found and seized the sword, and arrested landlord Harland Carl Pollard, 58, on charges of aggravated assault and false imprisonment.
Neither Christina Tuzzolino, 26, nor Clyde Burton Davis, 32, were injured in the bizarre attack.
Pollard said he was angry because his tenants were behind on their rent.
