84 year old Enric Marco, who has been president of the Spanish ex prisoners of the Mauthausen Nazi concentration camp and who has spent the last 30 years campaigning for the cause and speaking of his own personal experiences at the hands of the Nazis, has admitted that in fact he was never a prisoner there. After doubt on his story was voiced from several historians, he has now admitted he made up the tale in 1978 because, as he put it – in that way more people could listen to me and the details could be told more efficiently. He has resigned the post.
