That is good advice, really. If your wife has some degree of comedic talent, she should try and put some jokes into her speech.
You pretty much have to cover the whole "where we've been and where we're going" angle, though recounting specific memories shared with the group would be the best approach for those things.
Are there any other things that are expected of her? If the graduating class was tiny, then there are sometimes other traditions, like having a party/gathering, or dinner or something, though I'm not sure if any of that is applicable here....
