I am pretty sure you could use macros and VBA to do this. I have not used VBA on PowerPoint. Only Word, Excel, and Access. If you have any Visual Basic knowledge it is just a matter of figuring out the classes, properties, and methods that the application uses. Suffice to say it allows you to do some amazing stuff with Microsoft's applications.
Your probably looking for some option already built in as to building your own so I am probably not much help, just saying it is one option that could be available.
