I had problems finding the eyestalk too. Believe it or not, it's right where you walk in. But don't leave yet, there's a lot more experience and treasure to be had.
If you want to keep the Kuo-Toan prince busy, I've found he's not very resistant against Cloudkill.
Just make sure your own party members are!
