As for the "X doesn't fit in my party," there's something to be said for not knowing what Alignment they are. You can't exactly walk up to Korgan, read the tag on the inside of his collar, and say, "Well, I see you're Chaotic Evil, so you can go play in a blast furnace for all I care." (Unless you're a Paladin, of course.) You'd have to keep him in the party for a while, gauge his dialogues with Aerie and Mazzy, and then tell him to go to hell.

There's also the idea of carrying along a dysfunctional party member in the hopes that by acclimatizing them to your point of view, you can get them to change their ways.

Or you could be roleplaying an open-minded character, who doesn't mind interacting with those of different races/opinions....unlike a certain Paladin we all know.

And, last but not least, there's the tried & true method of having someone in your party for the sole purpose of doing something unbelieveably horrible to them at some point down the line.
