This is just so horrifying. Hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced and lost everything - three quarters of a million I heard at one point. The death toll will only rise as well, because many of the areas affected aren't able to communicate, for example small islands off India.
One of the worst things, I understand, is that now the biggest problem is getting fresh clean water to the people in the devastated places, because they have lost so much infrastructure and all their fresh water has been spoiled by seawater. If that doesn't happen within 48 hours then thousands more will be affected and possibly die of water-borne disease.
