The clue given by Azred is what put you off. The puzzle just connects a car a hotel and bankruptcy. While Azred's clue was a little offputting, it was what gave it away to me. How many hotels set you back 2000 of anything. What does a hotel on Mayfair cast - 2000 - connection = Monopoly.
