As my rather lowish party had no choice but to face a lich while adventuring .. I discovered something odd.
This lich resides behind a door .. I managed to see him and then immediatly hide behind the corner; he hadnt noticed me.
Newayz, the problem with these improved liches is that they tend to summon all party-members into their presence (usually during a Timestop) once they notice you or if you cast a spell. I didnt need that since I wouldnt survive it unbuffed and buffing would require spellcasting which would result in me going face to face after the first spell.
So I tried something desperate and stood just behind the corner with my cleric, casting -summon skeletons- ( not a skeleton warrior yet ).
And the odd thing is that he didnt notice me ... he did like any unimproved lich and started casting at the newly arosen skeletons.
A few teleportation-fields and timestops later ( as well as a few more summon skeleton spells ) all I had to do was take down an almost powerless mage.
I tried using different cleric spells, but they usually triggered his teleport-party spell. However if you are in the same area but cast the buffs at sufficient distance from him ... he doesnt care either.
Just cast the spell so that the summons summon into his line of sight .. you should be fine
My guess is that you can use any summon spell to do this ( summon woodland beings did the trick too ).
Oh, and did anyone else notice that the liches in the shade-dungeon dont use the teleport-party spell .. kinda handy too
