How's the solo-no-reloads project going? I'm trying one myself, actually - with a F/M/T. Improved Ilyich is almost too tough... But despair is still far away.
The F/M/T seems like the ideal no-sorcerer character for this kind of game. 100% MR + Stoneskin hardly fails. Sorcerers are still too boring.

Yeah I switched to a F/M/T myself after I died with my 2nd F/T against a kobold shaman. Come to think about, all you give up for almost the full array of arcane spells, is slightly slower level-ups (which will only make the game more fun in the long run) and worse saves. Hardly a big sacrifice

I very rarely allow spellcasters to target disabling spells at me anyway, so saves are pretty irrelevant, at least until they get low enough to provide complete immunity.
Things are going pretty slowly actually, I've probably restarted at least 15 times, and the furthest I've gotten so far is about 4.5 million XP, then I died to a Greater Command cast by a Spirit Troll

But I keep on trying and my current attempt has just completed everything up until the Bridge District and has about 1.3 million XP. It does get sort of frustrating when Prebek surprises you with a Charm spell cast at speed 1 (saves of 5 gives it a 90% chance to fail) and forces you to restart yet again, but it's fun, reminds me of Diablo II Hardcore mode like I said before, just a hell of a lot tougher and more random. Imp Ilyich is for me beginning to become a routine job, I follow a pretty strict procedure which takes three naps to complete the dungeon

You want some help with it?
