I believe what he meant is that monks, barbarians, and Sorcerors are not in the the base rules for 2nd ED D&D as the game (for the most part) addresses them. monks were (sort of, but horribly) added in 2nd ed in the priests handbook (only useful for those without the oriental adventures books), barbarians were added by their own 2nd ed sourcebook... yes i do know and realize that they've been around since before 1st ed, but that doesn't mean they are a standard class. a comparison could be made to ranger/druids, a perfectly valid multiclass in PnP Forgotten Realms, but not in the main rules, and so it's not allowed at all.
