Where can you get these mods and what do they do? Are there any that add new NPC's, dialoge or anything other than "improved" enemies or outrageously powerful items?
My first full powergame play thru was a human dual classed lvl 15 beserker lvl 20 sumthin mage who was named, ironically enough, sephiroth. (get it? )
But as for mages, I know im going to offend nearly everyone in the forum but I think they suck, total cheese. It takes me almost twice as long to play a game with a pc mage compared to a pc fighter because while the fighter is at full effectiveness as long as he has hp, the mage is slower due to a limited number of spells. Plus if you lvl up enough youll have protections and offensive possibilities your enemies cant possiblly hope to counter. Cast spellstrike on Jon and laugh, yawn. Instead I lean towards a more "realistic character"...to me a character who has dedicated his whole life to the use of one weapon and sneaking up on someone to kill them doing 200 dmg MIGHT be possible. Going up agianst 34 fire giants with 4 con and a spell book is just not. And go ahead and riducule me for saying realistic and spellbook in the same post. Personally I think the fighter-thief dual class is the most effiecient single opponent killer in the game. Bone blade+4, Cutthroat+4, assasination, critical stike, kai, haste, and time trap....shudder. Allthough walking into room full of...say, drow, wearing elven chain+5 and casting pro. magic weapons is fun too. I am INDOMINATABLE!!!
