I think what its trying to ask is:
"What position are you in when you overtake the person who is in second?"
You can't use "coming" in the way it was being used in that sentence.

Now
"the defendant's broter-in-law's only sister's husband" is the defendant.
"Father of the son of the judge" means that the judge can be the Mother of the son, and the defendant can be the father.
