Your comment brings up something I suspect, that gameplay outside of the "bases" may be slightly tailored to your profession.
I never got a 'tapestry shread' from Gwen. I gave her the girl's cape(BEFORE it cost 200GP), the flute and a flower. What else did you need to give her to get the tapestry shread?
