It's the "patch day nightmare".
The load of the patch download, and the fact that there is more people playing put the server to their limit, so problems happen.
It happened to me before, the server spawn the boat too late after you load the other continent, so everyone fall down.
I played all night long last night and everyone was going well. Today during the day I was getting a 1k+ ping, random disconect, and had lots of trouble loging into the game.
Hopefully it will be back to normal in a few days...
