LOL we have a similar phenomenon here, except it's rugs. Every few weeks there's a new ad on TV for Rugs-a-Million exclaiming about the new sale they have. The RaM guy comes on and announces in his most serious voice "I've OVERSTOCKED. I can't keep these rugs here another week", or "Despite my best efforts, the [insert name of store] is closing down - FOREVER. All rugs must go", or "Customs are on my tail. I have to get rid of these rugs or face a MASSIVE FINE", or "I've made a TERRIBLE MISTAKE with the ordering - too many rugs. I've got to get rid of them". Then he discusses the discounts "All rugs up to 87% off, and another 5% off FOR CASH. You'll never get rugs at these prices AGAIN". Well, not until the next sale in a week or so. Anyone who buys a rug with less than 85% off is doing something wrong in Australia
