No, Xero was talking about the Dragon in Suldenessellar.

A Mage in Full Plate (even assuming he could still cast spells) wouldn't be more dangerous at all, considering that most dangerous enemies can just punch right through it anyway. Sure, it'll protect you from your run-of-the-mill Goblins and the like, but you'll still take Critical hits which mess up your spells and (given that you're a Wizard) pose a serious threat to your hitpoints. Besides, you can't really Tank unless your Saving Throws, THAC0, and Attacks per Round are on a par with your AC, so just wearing some spiffy armor is *not* going to turn your Sorcerer into a juggernaut, even with Tenser's Transformation.

Fighter/Mages, on the other hand......

Armor, Shield, Ghost Armor, Spirit Armor. All provide Mages with some form of base AC bonus. Ever seen anybody actually cast one of them? Me neither.
