The special effects in movies from that era weren't that impressive or convincing, so it is highly unlikely that the footage of the first moon landing was a fake.
Besides, these days the public can actually see the space shuttle take off on a regular basis, and that would be a very impressive leap of technology if they hadn't landed on the moon as early as they claim.
