It depends on alot of things - a CRT can be extremely bulky, but can give a better picture for things like FPSs, and graphics editing, but LCDs and TFTs don't give off the radiation that CRTs do. Also, CRTs are noticably cheaper. For word processing and spreadsheets, you probably wouldn't notice much difference, for internet it would depend on what you look at - Flash things, for example, can cause some problems on LCDs (not sure about TFTs)
