Definitely go for the game's NPCs. They are great fun -- especially the Evil ones. As for party composition... Get the Valen Mod ASAP. To put it bluntly, there's no such thing as an
evil NPC in a "canon" BG2. They're all... Not Good (alignment-wise, of course). Valen, however, is
pure Evil. Get her.
Now, a question... Do you have the Tactics and Item Upgrade Mods installed?
