. Sounds to me more like you slept in an area that's exposed to mosquitos and sandflies etc rather than them being on the rug, and your bedroom isn't. I don't think rugs are particularly fertile breeding grounds for insects, at least if they're clean.
Although, I'll admit we don't have any rugs anymore since Tuppence decided that rugs were so much like her litter trays she'd go on them as well [img]graemlins/idontagreeatall.gif[/img] . She wouldn't dream of going on the carpet, but rugs seem to be a grey area for her. Was easier just to get rid of them
