This one is a case where someone's trying to play on your voyeurism and greed. You're getting a glimpse into someone else's conversation, and they're hoping you try to sneak some of it for yourself.

And perhaps, since it wasn't addressed to you, they feel it will afford them some protection if the case goes to court. After all, they never solicited you directly... you just foisted yourself on them.
