An update on my party

(Warning! Contains spoilers!)

My party's come a long way since last I wrote. Here's some of the stuff we've been doing:

Lilarcor: Figured out the puzzle in the sewers. Found the hand and the ring by poking around. (Couldn't BioWare have made the "use" icon different from the "you can't do anything here" icon? Ran into the same problem in the De'Arnise Keep.) It took a bit of tube-poking to slice up Quallo's friend for the blood. "You need to get it from a friend? Am I to slice up one of my party members or someth--aha..." Now I have a nutcase sword for a nutcase ranger. Pity the day when I find a decent +4 sword for Minsc. Or does Lilarcor still talk even if it's not the weapon in use?

Anomen: For a while, I thought everything I did with this romance screwed it up. Now I think I've figured it out. The key is to be understanding, be polite and considerate, and flatter him a lot. And he gave me a flower. ^_^ It's not in my inventory. Maybe it's one of those "dialogue-only" things. Or maybe it's one of those "he's a cheap bastard who just wants in your full plate mail" things. Either way, I'm looking forward to the next rest. Hey, where'd that cheesy saxophone music come from?

The graveyard, take one: Took Dace and 605's advice and explored there. Met Wellyn, talked the thief out of the bear back at the Coronet, and put him back to sleep. Went tomb exploring. I found the spider's nest and the magical door before I was told about it, again, thanks to the fact that I explore all the warfogged map space. That spider statuette has come in VERY handy during battles, especially with the Harpers. The underground crypt where I think the Book of Kaza might have been if I took Keldorn in my party, now, that was a fight. Hey, more undead than vampires can level drain! And are those ghasts? Uh-oh... level drain + hold + skeleton warriors = dead party members. Reload, reload, reload...oh, wait a sec, buff and summon! Still not helping! Reload, reload...doh! How many clerics do I have in my party? Let's see, I'm a cleric, Aerie's a cleric, Anomen's a cleric...and what do clerics do best? Turn undead! Mopped that place up after that.

Harper business: I came upon the Harper building and managed to kick everyone's butt the very first time around. Go me. It might have been that my clerics were snapping up some good level 5 spells and I went on a scroll spending spree for Aerie before this battle. No matter. They're dead, I have their gear (well, have what I want and sold the rest), and now the Harpers are mad at me. I'm a child of Bhaal. I'm turning Jaheira against them. I eat my main course with the salad fork. That type of thing. Jaheira only did some hand-wringing and meek protesting, but I knew the Harpers meant business when we met up with that Harper chick who'll attack no matter what. It wouldn't have been that bad of a fight if we'd been prepared for it! No matter what direction I went, my party always got waylaid, always fought bandits first, then took on Harper chick's party. So here I am, with Minsc taking on 5 bandits at once, while the rest of my party buffs and summons various things. This kicked my butt into 6 reloads. Not the most I've had so far (the Slaver ship had 11 reloads total), but still an annoying fight. Was one of those mages a cleric/mage? Might've explained things.

The graveyard, take two: Turned Bodhi down. Maybe it's because I'm female, but I don't find Bodhi that attractive. She looks snakishly feline and sounds like she has a stuffy nose. No thanks, I think I'll go talk to Aran now...

Mook: Took Aran's offer. The vampire fight on the way to meeting Mook was MUCH harder for me than the vampire fight after meeting Mook. Four reloads after first encountering the bloodsucker, I decided to play a bit unfairly. The fourth reload came after Aerie cast negative plane protection and out came the Cowlies. Great. It's Valeria and the Cowled Magettes! Reload. I sent Pirengle out as bait, woke up Valeria, got her to chase me into the Sea's Bounty. Valeria chases me down the stairs to find a buffed party waiting to beat the snot out of her. Guess what--we're inside! You know what that means...time for some great spells o' Melf. Plus, all the Amnish guards in the Bounty helped me out! I decided to be less of a cheeser when taking out the other two vampires and actually journeyed into the street. I kept them annoyed so well that they didn't cast a single level drain. And it was after this fight I identified the silver amulet and the RoP +2. Dangit.

Jaylos and Caehan: No matter what option I chose, they attacked. I killed them, cast all my vampire buffing spells, and waited. And the contact wasn't even a vampire! Damn...

Radiant Heart: That's Sir Anomen to you, now. I hoped he'd turn into a paladin when all was said and done, but once a fighter/cleric, always a fighter/cleric, I guess. I also beefed myself up for the Anarg Cup Challenge, but that was like using an atom bomb to kill a bunny rabbit. Now I have these spiffy gloves of healing that I of course keep forgetting to use.

the de'Arnise Keep: Again, I thought I'd be walking into a pit of fiery hell. Heck, the Yuan-Ti mage on the second floor gave me more problems than TorGar. (Tolgar? No matter, he's dead.) Meanwhile, it was loot, loot, and more loot! I don't have that many good blunt weapons to go around yet, so I made the golems mad but didn't kill them. Aerie + sanctuary = goodies! I plan to go back and whack them once I've done all that I can do around here. And thanks to the icon problem I had earlier, I was trying to cook up the Flail of Ages and feed it to the Umber Hulks.

Those are my new adventures. My party looks like this:

Pirengle: level 9/9 cleric/ranger, wearing full plate mail, shield amulet, ring of protection +1, the girdle of bluntness, a helmet, large shield +2, and wields her lightning warhammer +2 from BG1 as well as the Flail of Ages. AC -4, 47 HP.
Minsc: level 10 ranger, wearing full plate mail, helm of Balduran, ring of human influence, ring of protection +2, and wields Lilarcor. AC -4, 93 HP.
Anomen: level 11/7 cleric/fighter, wearing plate mail +1, helm of infravision, amulet of power, and his family shield, and wields a mace +2 and the warhammer +1/+4 vs giants. AC 0, 99 HP.
Jaheira: level 9/12 fighter/druid, wearing full plate mail, a helmet, ring of energy, ring of earth control, cape of protection +1, and wields the staff spear +2. AC -4, 75 HP.
Aerie: level 9/10 cleric mage, wearing the same traveler's robe I found her in, plus bracers of defense AC3, the amulet of metaspell influence, small shield +2, ring of air control, ring of wizardry, cape of protection +1, pale green ioun stone, and wields the sling of seeking +2.
Yoshimo: level 13 bounty hunter, wearing shadow armor, bracers of defense AC6 (unnecessary at this point, but thought I'd mention it anyway), boots of stealth, and wields the short sword of backstabbing and the tuligan bow +1.
party goodies: 8 potions of extra healing, 3 potions of healing, a master thievery potion, a potion of defense, a potion of fire resistance, a potion of insight, and an antidote. Also have the silver horn of Valhalla, the Gesen bow shaft, the black spider figurine, the human flesh, and the elven court bow +3.

This is the order I hope to do my next quests:
  • Umar Hills
  • Trademeet
  • Windspear Hills
  • the rescue of Haer'Dalis
  • the Unseeing Eye
  • one more last sweep through Athkatla for any little quests (piece of red cloth, anyone?)
  • the Showdown with Bodhi (tm)
  • and then Aran will help me get Immy back. Yay!
Does this sound like a good gameplan? I'm trying to finish the rest of my homework before diving in and playing again. If I'm about to make a horrible mistake, please hint at it, at least.
minor spoilers welcome ("try looking in this general area for what you seek" or "don't worry to much about that for now" or "it might be a good idea to buy such-and-such before doing that")
major spoilers are NOT welcome--I've been a good little Bhaalspawn and kept my nose out of walkthroughs and spoiler topics at Ironworks. Please don't spoil my fun telling me exactly how to do stuff. Somebody ruined the Windspear Hills quest for me on the PlanetBaldursGate forum when I asked for advice.

Thanks for your consideration--now, back to Waukeen's Promenade for some midnight shopping! I smell a girdle of hill giant strength!
